Chaotic Oasis

It has definitely been a chaotic few weeks. I have a massive, massive art block. I went into a procrastinating frenzy, and having car/transportation problems did not help at all. I missed a few days of classes thanks to the car. Anyway, apart from all that I do acknowledge that I did have some fun times these few weeks.

I went to an outlet mall with my friends and mum. We had fun and I was able to find a tee from BCBGMax for $19 that was previously $108. Say what?! Yes, I speak the truth. Also found two awesome sunglasses that I've been looking for and at a good deal. Then I was reunited with my old water polo teammates, some of them at least. We had so much fun and I ended up going on a road trip to some CCCAN competitions going on. There I saw some more teammates and some of my old guy friends. I had a blast!

(The last 2 pictures were not taken by me because I didn't bring my camera to the game)

Coming back to my project. I had to illustrate Fashion Illustration. I had difficulty with the writing part, which took most of my imagination and ultimately made me panic. I was on a spot where I couldn't illustrate well, nor write well. But alas, I finished and although I could have done better on the booklet, I liked how it turned out. Some of the illustrations were previously done drawings from people and I vectorized them. The poster I drew and vectorized myself. I'm very happy with the poster and will probably hang it on my room when I'm done presenting. Also got some shoes my mum ordered for me, since she nags about how I need new ballerina shoes. The heels she also got me came in the wrong size so I'll show them when I get the true size.

Now I leave you with a random picture of my beau, which he will probably scream at me for posting... And also, I'm off to use my yen to cut the cardboard box for the CD I need to finish my project. Sigh~ Oh! And if you didn't know, I have a tumblr which I do post daily. It's my little escape corner, check it out!

Things I don't regret buying!

On a new note, out of all the bad products we get there are always very good products we plan to buy again. Since you guys liked my post about things I regret getting, I thought 'Why not do a post about things I plan to get again?'. So, here I am posting once more, hope you like it. Also, my lighting was bad so I had to resort to using white paper.

NYX Black Label lipstick in Beige and nude, Revlon in Persian Melon and Siren & Wet 'n' Wild 908C

These are the lipsticks I've been using lately. I combine the NYX lipsticks to create a perfect nude lip that suits me. They're really creamy and actually last a decent amount of time. Next are the Revlon ones. I've always loved Revlon, they're good quality and don't test on animals, which I generally try to avoid. These 2 colours are my it colours for now. They last a really long time and both have great texture and pigment. I could eat and drink and I'd still have colour on my lips. Then we have the Wet 'n' Wild violet lipstick. Now, this one I absolutely love right now. It's somewhat of a stain, begins a lipstick and it also stains your lips. I literally ate and drank and ate, and it was still there when I went to see if I had to retouch. It's not a colour worn here much, so I loved being the only one to have it on where I went. I just adore it. And for $2 I mean, how can you go wrong with that?!

Mark Speedaway Concealer & Amazing Cosmetics Concealer

Here we have 2 concealers that have such a different price range from each other. One is around $8 and the other is $42. I've had the Amazing Cosmetics concealer for around 2 years now. It still works, it's not damaged, it still cover well... amazingly. This is a product worth splurging on, in my opinion. You only need to apply a small amount to cover a big area. It's worked for me and I'm really happy I still have some product left to last me a couple of months. Then we have the Mark concealer for Avon. They is a really mid-coverage concealer that's really creamy. I don't love the package, it gets messy, but it does its job at the end of the day so I'm good. This is something I use here in a humid weather, I don't want to over do my make-up and clog up my skin.

Mark Just Pinched Blusher & Hard Candy Fox In a Box

The Mark blusher is really a nice and lovely cream blush. It truly gives you a natural flush to the skin. I use this on calm days where I want to have a fresh look and keep it clean. The Hard Candy box I bought recently. Obviously if it made it here, it means I liked it a lot. This just gives me a peachy blush and also somewhat a bronze-y glow. I don't feel either of these products clogs me up, and that is really important to me.

Clinique Blended Face Powder & Mark Powder Buff Foundation

These 2 are really essential to me in the humid weather. They don't clog me up, they don't make me oily and they give me a nice clean fresh look, somewhat matte but not cake-y.

Urban Decay NAKED Palette & Claire's Palette

Must I truly sit here and say why the NAKED palette is good? No, I don't think so. But I'll name a few things... Great pigments, great texture, very wearable colours and good for many looks. I use this palette almost daily, from smokey eyes to neutral eyes to smudge-y eyes. It's definitely a great products. The Claire's one is more of a Take-it-with-you product. A great white for highlighting and some nice neutral colours with surprisingly good pigments.

Milani Tantastic Face & Body Bronzer, Benefit Ligh Brow Pencil & Urban Decay Naked Palette Eyeliner duo pen
The bronzer gives me a nice healthy glow and just the right amount of shimmer when applied right. At 1st I didn't like this products, I didn't understand it. But I've recently tried it again and fell in love. Next is the brow pencil. I've always had a difficult time using eyeshadow to colour my brows in, so when I found this Benefit product I just fell in love. It's the perfect light brown to make my brows look good but not overly filled. The we have the magical duo eye liner pen. Great pigment and a gorgeous Whiskey brown. I don't know what I'll do when the brown runs out.

Hope you enjoyed one again this review. I love all of these products and I truly recommend trying them if you were already thinking about it. Of course, keep in mind that my review is based on my experience with the product. What works for me, might not work for you. Hope you enjoyed!

Why did I buy this?

Whilst going through my make-up drawers I found that I keep a lot of products I disliked. Why? What makes us hold on to what we don't like? Personally, I think it's the denial that we spent money on something that turned out to be a waste. Anyway, this is me giving my opinion on why I disliked it. Keep in mind that each product may work differently for you, and if you want to go ahead and buy it then be my guest.

Tarina Tarantino 'Victorian Punk Gem Gloss'

I bought this because it was in the Sephora baskets while you're in the line waiting to pay. I have ADD, so I get easily distracted and let's face it, T.Tarantino products have really cute packaging. It was $10, so I decided to invest and try it out. I'm not one for lip glosses, not with having a boyfriend... it's impossible but I decided to try it out anyway. It stinks! It smells weird, like plastic and the plastic smell gives me headaches. It's super goop-y and just slime-y... feels like a slug did the macarena all over your lips, yuck! I couldn't get past it, and trust me I definitely tried.
NB Bronzer & Glowdacious by Mark

I've mentioned that I recently got into using bronzers, so I'm always up to trying new brands. Both of these products suffer the same defect. Both look so pretty and like they have so much pigment. Both are also deceivers in my perspective. They're too loose and get everywhere, as you can see in the picture. Then when you apply them, you can see nothing. Like you never applied the product.

Covergirl & Olay cream blusher & Sephora Mineral Loose Foundation

I was sad with these. First, I'd been looking for a nice cream blush and tried the Covergirl one. It's way to expensive and the colour is way to harsh and hard to blend. Then the Sephora one. I mean for $10 it seems divine and like a steal. The powder works the 1st week and then it starts getting cake-y when you apply it. Looks horrible, and even though it's the lightest colour they had, it just didn't fit me. Oh well!

Avon Eyeshadow Quad in Earth Tones

This one is simple. Pretty colours, but no pigments. You need layers and layers for the colour to kind of show up... EVEN THE WHITE ONE! It's such a shame, since the colours are pretty and warm and usually Avon products are really good. Sigh~

Maybelline Colossal Mascara

Easy. It's messy and I didn't like it.

I'm all about honesty here. I will be the first to tell you guys when I like a product and when I don't. All of my reviews are based on how the products worked on me. What you choose to do is up to you, I can't stop you if you want to try it out. Also, you may have the product and it may work perfectly for you, but they did not for me.

e.l.f Review & then some...

Something that I think every person, who uses make-up, needs the e.l.f The Beauty Encyclopedia: Face Edition. It brings 4 shimmer creams, 4 concealers, 1 bronzer, 1 blush and 1 face brush. I got this for like $5 just to try something from e.l.f and let me tell you that I do not regret it.

The shimmers give you a healthy glow, which just boosts up your face and makes you look awake. The concealer is uh-MAZING! I use the 1st one, which is kind of ivory, and I personally think it competes with M.A.C concealers, which I have some. The blush is a nice pink natural blush colour with a hint of gold specks. I'm obsessed lately with bronzers and this one is really nice for contouring, it also has some gold specks in it. It's a kit that I just take on the go when I stay in different places. E.l.f should seriously take note and bring their cosmetics here to Puerto Rico, I'm dying to try more things. Yes, I can buy online but I prefer to try it on 1st and actually hold it in my hand!

Also went to the cinema today, saw Kung Fu Panda 2...which is AWESOME! I decided to dress in a more winter way, lot's of black. I've been meaning to wear this blazer for so long, but the heat wont let me. So, today I decided to tell the heat to bug off, and just wore it! Inspiring, aren't I? I had fun today, dressing up and using the Wet 'n' Wild violet lip stick. All in all it was a nice day, random rain though! Excuse the picture, but I forgot to take a picture before I left so it was rushed.

Ouch!

It's been an exhausting week, lots and lots of work. It's been too hot to even breathe! However, I did get to go to Desi's (mentioned in other posts) art exposition. I only got to take very few pictures, I don't feel well physically so I was keeping it simple and quiet. Also, the camera battery died...

Also did a little make-up haul video on the make-up I got lately, which is posted a couple of posts down. Overall, I was quite happy with all I got. Both of the NYX eyeshadows look nice and are fairly good in the pigment area. The Wet 'n' Wild lip sticks are very nice also. The lighter violet colour is somewhat of a stain, so it lasts a long time. The deep plum colour cracks after a few hours but no biggie, they were $2 after all! The Hard Candy Fox in a Box is really nice. It comes out somewhat peachy and bronze-y, which I love. I seem to be really into bronzers as of late, so I'm on the hunt for the perfect bronzer.
Also, I'm currently working on a project for my Vector Design class where I have to show how Graphic Design works with a topic. I chose to design fashion illustration, which I will show once I'm finished and I present it. And I have a new idea for a new banner, which I will hopefully do this weekend. But that's all for now, hope everyone is well!

ps: enjoy my awkward face and closed eyes in the pictures!

Outside of the Bubble

I wanted to channel my inner Susie Bubble (fav. blogger) on this one. I wanted to go for things I may not usually go with all together. To be truthful, I'd wear this...proudly.

Although the PRADA lace-ups have some mix critic, I love them. But the again, I also love creepers. Anyway, of course I played with the blue and the orange of the bag and did a mini colour block since orange and blue do compliment each other. The denim jacket is a touch just for something more, although I'd prefer it lighter but I didn't find something that I liked.

As for accessories... Here you have two statement pieces, the shoes and the bag. So let's not forget about the dress. I chose a cream coloured bracelet that goes with the cream colour pattern on the dress. I mean, I don't want to drown my accessories or my statement pieces so, down play it. Showcase the shoes/bag. Since I love studs I decided to play with that and go for gold, since the bag has a gold buckle.

Last but not least, the make-up. Of course, I'm not gonna go and pick each piece of make-up needed so, I concentrated on the main idea. Blue nails, which are flirty and play with the shoes. Bronze-y cheeks with a bit of a blush, just giving it that feminine touch. And Burnt orange lips! I love this colour, I myself wear it a lot. I also like to work in a very minimalistic way. I like the simplicity and the cleanness of it.

The point is to sometime go outside of the box of bubble. Try something fun and new and miix, mix, MIX! Fashion is yours for the taking.

Is it Rainy or is it Sunny?

The weather is so bipolar and mental here, I'm beginning to think it's schizophrenic and named each climate. Now, even though the weather is mental it didn't stop us from having a good time and getting off our lazy bums. We went to the capital of Puerto Rico where I took some footage and will show later on another posts. We found some vintage shops but they were ridiculously expensive so we obviously made a b-line out of there. It was super rainy in the beginning then it got really hot! WE.WERE.GETTING.COOKED! Needless to say we didn't last long in San Juan.

After San Juan, we went to good ol' Walmart since I'd heard they brought Hard Candy cosmetics. There we got a couple of things and movies which kept us entertained for the rest of the day. The next day we went to one of my aunts' house, which I adore since it looks like a fairy forest. We ate paella and relaxed for a bit, until I got a fever and had to return. But I'm ok, and I'm really happy to show you all what I got.

 Got this doggy for $12!
I'm really excited to be able to review all the products I got. Can't wait to post more so just keep on reading.

Love you, guys!
