Naked Basics

 For me, this palettes is one of those where you start saying you wont get it but then you cave in and do. Trust me, I said I wasn't going to, but I really got into matte shadows and wasn't in any mood to hunt down individuals. It's a really small palette that fits into the palm of your hand. What can I say about this product? It suits its purpose. I feel like I have a more business approach when I pick this up. I have something in mind and I use it to get what I want. But there is no thrill when I use it.

Do I like the palette? Yes, I do. Very much so. The pigmentation on it is great and smooth. Easy to blend. However, its not something I'd buy again. I don't regret buying it, because I use it a lot. I like my results with it. But I just don't experiment with it. I use it and then put it away. That's it. I don't play with the colors or anything. Do I recommend it? Well, if you want matte shadows and don't want to find dupes then sure. If you have the money and can spend it, go ahead. Overall, I am happy with it but that's it.

Fall Attire | November

Trying to cheer up while I get through my finals. It definitely feels like fall lately and I'm loving it. I can't wait to see Christmas lights and eating all the holiday food. I came up with this outfit because this is something I can't wait to wear. I can just see myself prancing around all cozy and warm in all this. It's such an easy, doable outfit that can be recreated by anyone anywhere. Yes, it's still hot here but during the night it's pretty 'chilly' and I could get away with something like this.

Urban Decay | YDK

Upon getting a newsletter that Urban Decay was having a sale I knew I just had to jump on the band wagon. Seeing as they don't ship here (which is a shame) I had to resort to my super flash texting skills so my aunt could ship them to me. True, UD sales don't have much to choose from, but the prices are very good and hard to pass on. I chose two things to try out, one which was this gorgeous eyeshadow called YDK. What attracted me was the lovely faded copper tone and how it was neutral.

One of the first things I noticed off the bat was how pigmented it was when I swatched it. No streaking and I didn't have to swatch twice. These are ups for me since it makes it easier to apply and blend, and most importantly it makes it quick. I rarely apply eye primer (to lazy to bother) and I'm happy to say I don't need it. I'm not a UD fan but I do love the small portion of products I do own from their label. This shadow is no exception. The color is a more subtle copy of the Maybelline color tattoo ones in Bad To The Bronze. The UD YDK is more light though which discards it as a dupe, and vice versa. I got this shadow for $6 so I'm incredibly happy with it and truly have nothing bad to say about it. I'll keep a look out for the next sale so I can include something for a giveaway.

Darling Girl Cosmetics | Indie Company

 Darling Girl Cosmetics is an indie cosmetics company I was first introduced to via a fellow blogger at a meeting. She wiped out her newly arrived goodies and started swatching. The one that blew our mind, and made me check out the store, was this gorgeous pigment called Jeweled Taupe. I'm all for indie companies especially when they have a good variety and has great communication with its clients. The store has so many awesome colors like vibrant reds and duo-chrome pink blushes. 

When buying from the store you have two choices, purchasing a sample size or a full side. This is brilliant since it's always good to try out something before committing to buying it whole... I know I've had my fair share of disappointments. Plus, you need such a small amount of product to cover the intended area. I found that all of the samples I got were very easy to apply and get a good pigmentation from the get go. Some of the blushes, like She-Bop and Neon Trees, are kind of patchy but easily blended out. Aloha, the bronzer, isn't so dark on my fair/olive skin, it's more of a sandy color that works very nice for a very subtle glow. And the prize of the day, Jeweled Taupe, is everything I wanted it to be. It gives such a lovely natural shine. I love how it compliments my eye instead of over powering it. This is one of those products that are inexpensive but look so glamorous and expensive. 

I've definitely learned to check out more indie cosmetics companies. You never know what you could find that is better and cheaper than a lot of other brands. DGC is always posting on their Facebook page, showing new colors and taking suggestions for future projects. This is something that is sometimes lost in more big companies. You could also always find dupes for more expensive products and that is always welcomed in my books. I do suggest you check them out, genuinely.
