Febuary: Think Pink

I've never been a February kind of person. Never really been into that whole "Omg! It's Valentine's day!" fiasco I see around me. Hell, I even wore full black on V-day to school. Rebellious, right? Anyway, regardless of utter indifference to the month of February, I've been very pink these last few weeks. Pink blush and pink lips. These are the things I'm leaning more towards to lately. I just feel that pink is giving me a flush to my face that I'm sorely lacking lately. Pink is just a happy color when it comes to make up. It barely disappoints. We should all have at least one pink item in out make up bag so we can brighten up our day. Adding that flush of color that just looks right. For my daily dose of pink, I chose these items above. These have helped me through my pink obsession and maybe they can help you, too!

L'oreal | Pink Tone Lipsticks

My lovely mother, she's adorable, got me these (2) lippies almost two weeks ago since there was a sale going on. I had been looking at these guys but found them a bit expensive for drugstore lipsticks, so getting them on a deal was great. These are both great summer colors, giving a very good amount of pigment without going full on. More of a kissable look. However, something really irked me about the Sweet Angora packing (gold package; on the left) and it was that it had such a grand package and then you open it and the tube is so small and slim. Why make such a big package for that? It really annoyed me.

As I mentioned, the color payoff is really nice and pigmented without being overbearing. I do find them a bit too creamy for my taste and they tend to fade a bit faster (Sweet Angora (left) faster than Summer Rose (right). I tend to not lean on pink lips since I feel I look too made up, but these give a nice flush of color. It's something I slap on when I feel the need to have a bit of color without wanting a full on lipstick. The pink in both lipsticks is very flattering on all skin tones and would look superb on darker skin tones. Again, these are perfect for what's left of the summer and to wear them during the day. Very good shades of pink without going Barbie pink, which I dislike. Do I recommend them? Only if they aren't full price. I could certainly do without them and don't find them to be anything special. I like them but I don't find myself reaching for them as much to find myself actually buying them at full price. But they're worth checking out.

Here's A Quick One | Rimmel Polish Duo

I got this Rimmel nail polish duo at the drugstore $3 for both (there was a special). The pigment in the pink varnish is amazing, I only needed one coat and voila it was perfect. The only think is I don't think pink nail polish suits me personally. I wish I'd gotten a taupe color they had, boohoo. Anyway, I'm really happy with the finish look and I'll definetly be looking at more Rimmel nail polishes from now on!

Go Get 'Em Girl!

While on our way to our little vacation we stopped by a drugstore where I decided to pick up a few lip products. The Revlon Lip Balms I've heard about all over the blogging scene, but I never picked up any even though I've been eying them. So I finally decided to pick out one and try it out. Next, one of my friends told me about these new Covergirl lipsticks and how good they were and I picked two of those too and set on trying them for a week and some.
I'm a Revlon fan since I think they do an almost MAC quality on their lipsticks. I have flaky lips so I was eager to try their Creme Brule tinted lip balm and see if it looked good but also helped my lips. Obviously, since it's a tinted lip balm, there isn't a huge amount of pigmentation. This is great for those to don't like to use really bright lipsticks or aren't ready yet. For me, it suited its purpose. It hydrated my lips and gave a nice nude sheen to them. I like how it gives a lip gloss effect without all the goup-y feeling that I hate so much. your lips just look so hydrated and healthy.

As for the Covergirl lipsticks, I've never been much of a fan of Covergirl but damn these babies are amazing. I've been searching for a good fuchsia pink that would suit me and my search has now ended. Embrace is the perfect electric pink that looks amazing. It's long lasting, trust me I wore it a whole day at uni, and it's somewhat matte which I love. As for Sultry, I got it because it reminded me of MAC's Honey Love -which is my favorite matte nude- and I want it to test it out and see. Sultry is a bit more dark than Honey Love and it's not matter but I do like it. I'm still testing it out but I don't love it yet. Let's see... Maybe I'll do a post about it.

Spring Is Here

You know spring is here when you're being drawn to pastel colors. Even though I favor a black/white wardrobe, I am being drawn to mints and peaches. Subtly, but none the less there. Zara is doing amazing pastels but a bit over priced for the materials used, if I say so myself. However, I have yet to commit to buying a article of clothing, opting instead for a ring combo from Banana Republic.

I usually don't go into BP, but I was drawn to it yesterday for some reason. I was delighted to see that they have a nice selection of jewelry for a good price. Having worked with a jewelry designer myself, I'm more attuned to prices and paying it's worth. I tend to go for delicate unique rings with precious stones. So when I saw these babies I just had to have them. I'm going to be playing up using these together and apart and dammit I'll have fun doing just that!
